Natural fibres, Ocean-bed
This project is inspired by soft sculpture artists. I am using it as a way of expressing the amazing hidden beauty in the depths of our oceans and also the tragic dying coral beds being destroyed by the oceans over absorption of carbon. It is created with found materials as I wanted to show that consumerism and our great desire to ‘buy new’ is not always necessary it’s just an ingrained development of our throw away world. I have endeavoured to use all natural fibres. Shiela Hicks is one of many soft sculpture artists that have influenced my work. Her works are bold and colourful and are created for display inside and outside in public places. The density and colour within her art has influenced me.
